Deck Maintenance Tips
Riverwoods has hundreds of decks -- well over 300. They are painted with a product called Deck and Dock. We need to ensure that each deck lasts and remains in good condition.
In order to make the paint last as long as possible, please ensure that your planters and anything sitting on the paint can dry easily after it rains. Planters should be raised off the paint; for instance, you can place a few pebbles under planters and umbrella bases so that water beneath can evaporate. Otherwise, water that sits fbeneath these things can cause the paint to chip and peel.
The paint generally holds up under gentle powerwashing. This is effective for removing mold. The key word here is gentle.
